These four unit townhouses were designed to complement their immediate surroundings and contribute positively to the broader street character, aiming for a harmonious integration with the existing architectural context. These beautiful, modern-looking houses are oriented to face towards the beach, strategically capitalizing on the amazing views of the water and coastline.
The primary challenge in the site planning involved orienting the car spaces to provide convenient access to Nepean Highway while optimizing the positioning of the unit developments to maximize views and livability for each townhouse. Upon entering each unit, a grand double-height entry creates a sense of spaciousness and arrival, making it feel less like a compact entry typically found in multi-unit developments. One of the bedrooms, complete with an ensuite bathroom, is conveniently located on the ground floor and is interconnected with a private courtyard, designed to create the feeling of a single dwelling on the lot rather than a series of townhouses.
The meals area in each unit opens onto a beautiful courtyard, strategically providing natural sunlight and a sense of openness to spaces that might otherwise feel enclosed by walls on either side. The inclusion of a large, well-equipped kitchen and a substantial pantry adds significant value and functionality to each home. The living room is carefully positioned to capture the view from the backyard, and the staircase is thoughtfully tucked in behind the kitchen, ensuring a simple and clean aesthetic for the overall space planning on the ground floor. The position of the staircase was a key design consideration, as we wanted the residents to enjoy a view of the beach every time they accessed the upper levels. The upper levels of each townhouse are designed with additional bedrooms and living areas, along with spacious ensuites and walk-in robes, and importantly, provide access to a private rooftop terrace for each unit.
The main feature of these townhouses is the deliberate design to capture the beach view, achieved through the inclusion of these rooftop terraces, which also feature an enclosed area to provide a comfortable space to sit and enjoy the surroundings even during sunny or inclement weather.
