Cockatoo Residence

Completion 2026

A new four-bedroom house was proposed for this countryside land, with a design that responds sensitively to its natural setting. The terrain of the land and the dense vegetation all around presented the most significant challenges in terms of site access and building integration. To address this, a substantial house with a steeply pitched gable roof was designed to sit aesthetically pleasingly within this challenging block of land, its form echoing the surrounding hills and minimizing visual impact.

The house includes four well-proportioned bedrooms, thoughtfully designed modern interiors that prioritize comfort and style, and an open-plan living and kitchen area that forms the heart of the home, promoting interaction and connection with the outdoors. It is also surrounded by big decks that extend the living space outwards, designed to seamlessly integrate with the natural beauty of the environment and capture the expansive views of the surrounding greenery and big, lush trees all around, allowing for an immersive experience of the landscape.

Sustainable materials, chosen for their environmental performance and aesthetic suitability, were specified throughout the design and construction to ensure the house is a sustainable build, minimizing its ecological footprint.
